Snooker Betting – Betting on Snooker

The most common variant of snooker is played on a billiards table using a white cue ball, fifteen red balls, and one ball for each of the following colours: yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, and black. Red balls are worth one point, the yellow ball is worth two points, the green ball is worth three points, the brown ball is worth four points, the blue ball is worth five points, the pink ball is worth six points, and the black ball is worth seven points. The goal of each player is to sink the balls in a pocket, thus collecting the points, and to score more points overall than the other player.

Snooker betting usually takes one of two forms: match betting and outright betting. The former takes place for a single game, in which two players are competing. Bookmakers create odds based on which player they think will be victorious, and gamblers then place their bets on a particular player. These odds are created by examining the players’ overall skills, as well as their records, their technique, strategy, and so on. To illustrate, the snooker betting odds posted for a match might look like this:

John Doe: 200
Bruce Lee: -150

In this match, Bruce Lee is favoured to win, and so is represented with a negative value. A negative value represents the amount of money required to win one hundred dollars. In this case, a bet of one hundred and fifty dollars would pay out one hundred dollars on a win for Bruce Lee. John Doe is the underdog, and thus is represented with a positive number. The positive number equals the amount of money a one hundred dollar bet would win, so in this case, two hundred dollars. These odds could also be posted like this:

John Doe: 2:1
Bruce Lee: 2:3

In outright snooker betting, players are shown a roster of players for a given event, such as a tournament. In this type of betting, gamblers attempt to choose who they think will win based on the odds given. This style of snooker betting is somewhat similar to a horse race, in that the odds tend to be much higher, the chances of winning tend to be lower, and it is very difficult to guess who will win a tournament beforehand. However, outright betting can be very exciting, especially if the player you choose makes it through several rounds. If you enjoy snooker, then you will be sure to enjoy the exhilaration that comes with cheering a player through several matches.
